Discharge over Notch

The lab setup consists of a channel with deepened entry section having sufficient length and width in which water is supplied from the bottom Required Notch is fitted at one end of this channel. Upstream from the face Notch, a gauge well is provided where a hook gauge is filled Arrangement for fixing interchangeable notches is made. The set-up can be connected to Hydraulic Bench with flexible pipeline.

Description

Features

A tank and set of notch wiers for the study of flow regulation and measurement devices.
Portable, corrosion-resistant Stainless steel channel for ease of use and long life.
Includes one rectangular and two Vshaped notches for basic experiments.
Two additional weirs will be included for more advanced experiments.
Adjustable depth gauge for precise measurement of water level.
The apparatus shows clearly the use of weirs as simple flow regulators.
Each weir fitted in a sealed groove in the channel section.
Water flows through the channel and over the weir, where the deep tank exit allows students to see the discharge.
Students will be able to measure the free water surface using an adjustable depth gauge attached to a beam across the channel.

Depth 100 mm (min.), width at top of notch 30 mm (min.), width at base of notch 25 mm (min.) and thickness 3mm (min.).
